This week we’re talking about picking the perfect heel height: how do you do it, and why does it matter?
This is an awesome topic and we want to pass on some wisdom to you that - let’s be real here - is probably going to help you pick out heels for the rest of your life.
Ready to dive in? Let’s do this!
Why heel height matters
Everyone has different feet and a different way of walking, so finding the right heel height for you is super important. Heel height can determine how comfortable you are in a given moment and how freely you move.
And of course, how fly you look! Lower heels are perfect for all-day wear, for example if you’re working in an office or running errands.
High heels are great for nights out, parties and special events, giving you longer looking legs and a more elegant look.
What about dance shoes?
For the dancers among us, there’s even more reason to pick the right heel height as the right shoe can literally make or break your performance.
Beginners should choose lower heels or “flare” heels to give them more stability. Slim heels, on the other hand, give you that wow factor and make precision moves easier.
What if heels are too high?
If you choose a heel that’s too high, you’ll know about it because your feet will hurt. But more worryingly, you’ll put unnecessary strain on the muscles and ligaments in your feet, ankles and legs.
And there’s a greater risk of you tripping or slipping, which you really want to avoid. The best thing to do is start lower and build your way up to higher heels gradually, as your feet get used to them.
You can start with chunkier or block heels and move to more stiletto style heels as time goes on, and as you get used to walking in them.
You can also “break in” your shoes before wearing them all day long which will really help you to feel comfortable.
What about Burju heels?
Don’t worry, we’ve spent years perfecting our heel game here at Burju, and we know how to create a dynamite pair of heels!
Here are some things you should know:
We’ve added extra padding to our shoes in exactly the right places, so that you’ll be as comfortable as possible, even in super high heels.
We’ve also optimized the angle of our heels (you’ll see that they’re aligned and curved slightly inwards) to make sure the weight of your foot is distributed in a better way and to add stability.
Lots of our shoes are ankle boots which means they’ll provide your ankles with the support they need when moving in high heels. This keeps your feet steady and stops you losing your balance.
A lot of our booties are also lace ups, so you can adjust the fit. Tighten them up for even more support and you’ll be even steadier on your feet!
Choose your perfect heel height
The beauty of Burjus is that you can customize each style with your perfect heel height, giving you the freedom to be as comfortable, or as sassy as you please.
